Cable recovery and repair

Cable faults can arise from a variety of sources, including both human intervention and natural phenomena. At depths exceeding 1,000 meters, faults typically result from natural events such as seismic activity, landslides, or abrasion due to ocean currents.

In depths up to 200 meters, cable faults are more commonly caused by human activities, such as fishing or anchoring.

Subsea cables are continuously monitored to secure that a fault is detected immediately. Seaworks Kabel have contingency agreements with several companies and when a cable break occurs, we always have a vessel rigged and ready for action on short notice. The repair time is important and with standby cable and material in stock we can act quickly when an incident occurs. Our purposed built cable vessels have the capability to repair cables on board.

As a both Seaworks Kabel and our customers care for the environment, we also recover out of service subsea cables for recycling.

Seaworks Kabel has a proven track record from removing subsea cables, also oil-filled cables.
